House Passes Wilderness Act Despite Republican Objections

February 26, 2021

Washington, D.C. Today, Congressman Michael Guest voted against H.R. 803 - Protecting America's Wilderness and Public Lands Act, legislation that would seize 1.5 million acres of land and restrict their use. The legislation would permanently withdraw 1.2 million acres from mineral production, essential resources that provide jobs to thousands of Americans and support our domestic energy sector.

"As Americans fight to return to work, Democrats in the White House and Congress continue to threaten American jobs by placing their own agenda over the wellbeing of the American people. We have seen a pattern. While Democrats are focused on their partisan agenda, Republicans remain committed to growing American jobs for every citizen."

Congressman Michael Guest represents Mississippi's Third Congressional District. Currently serving his second term, Congressman Guest is a member of the Committee on Homeland Security, the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Committee on Ethics.
