Guest Joins Resolution to Establish Women’s Bill of Rights

June 3, 2022

Resolution Defines ‘Sex’ as the Biological Sex Assigned at Birth

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael Guest (MS-03) cosponsored H.Res.1136, which would establish a Women’s Bill of Rights to reaffirm legal protections afforded to women under Federal Law.

“This legislation comes at a critical time as the radical left continues to push a woke ideology on women at the cost of their safety and mental health,” Guest said. “Women should have the right to compete in women’s sports against other women. They should be able to use women’s restroom facilities without worrying about intrusion. They should be able to overcome traumatic experiences through women’s group mental health counseling with other women. This resolution is a strong step in pushing back against radical gender identity politics by protecting every woman’s right to privacy and safety.”

The resolution was introduced by Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08), and the Senate companion was introduced by U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.).

The resolution details the biological difference between men and women, defines “sex” as a person’s biological sex, and mentions important reasons to distinguish between the sexes with respect to athletics, prisons, domestic violence shelters, restrooms, and other areas.

Congressman Michael Guest represents Mississippi's Third Congressional District. Currently serving his second term, Congressman Guest serves as the Vice Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, as a Member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and as a Member of the Committee on Ethics.
