Congressman Michael Guest Makes Second Critical Vote in Support of President Trump and to Secure the Border

March 26, 2019

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Michael Guest (MS-03) voted against the measure that would override President Trump's veto of the congressional resolution terminating the President's national emergency declaration on the southwest border. This vote comes one month after Congressman Guest voted against H.J. Resolution 46, which passed the House and Senate and was vetoed by the President.

With this vote, Congressman Guest again expressed his support for the President's efforts to secure our southwest border. "Each month, 60,000 people attempt to come into our country illegally. Over 90 percent of the heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine sold in our communities is smuggled through our southwest border. The facts demonstrate that a border crisis exists, and I hope that, with this vote behind us, we can focus on finding solutions that will mitigate the growing drug, humanitarian, and immigration crisis at our border," Guest said.
